FASCETS Mission
Statement
The mission of FASCETS (Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Consultation, Education
and Training Services, Inc) is to contribute to the prevention of FASD
(Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders) by increasing understanding of
FASD as a brain-based physical disability, thereby preventing secondary
defensive behaviors and improving outcomes.
Our objectives are to:
- Support improved outcomes for those with FASD
- Develop partnerships among parents and professionals
- Disseminate information about FASD throughout the
community
- Enhance existing programs through augmentation or
adaptation
- Support development and implementation of effective,
appropriate programs, parenting and practice techniques in families,
agencies and institutions
- Provide relevant, current information and resources for
supporting children, adolescents and adults with FASD, their parents,
families, professionals, agencies and institutions
- Create a common language shared by parents and
professionals to improve communication and facilitate networking
- Empower community partners and those with FASD to
develop and implement appropriate adaptations
- Contribute to creating a family centered, culturally
relevant, community based, transdisciplinary, multiagency,
collaborative continuum of care. Programs and services provide
sustained support for the development and implementation of appropriate
policy, program, and practice adaptations to meet the needs of people
with FASD and people in the community with whom they live and work.
